Post-raid thread at Enturbulation.org

Verdict: Epic Win!

Scoreboard: Anonymous: 5 Scientology: 0

Report:

The Raid started at 11AM with Anonymous once again returning to the west side on Yonge street for some close up enturbulation. Toronto police gave us free reign over St. Mary street, allowing us to protest in view of all org entrances, and forcing the sea org to use the back alleys to sneak in the rear doors.

Attendance peaked at 75 anon, understandable given the summer holidays. Spirits were high thanks to cake, cookies, flags, music, and a whole lot of kareoke. Highlights included pirate dancing, epic duels, a naked cyclist parade (granny tits ftw), and a visit from Nan Mclean an OG critic.

Verdict: Epic Win!

Scoreboard: Anonymous: 4 Scientology: 0

The raid kicked off at 11AM with very exciting news: Toronto police were allowing Anons to return to the west side of Yonge street! We were given full use of St. Mary street including the South side allowing us to protest right in front of the org. The east side of Yonge was also open for spill over. Pressure from the local business association allowed us to setup in front of the Co$ rather than disrupting the shops along Yonge; don't piss off your neighbours Scientology.

Attendance peaked at 125 Anons. Somewhat expected considering the raid coincided with exam week for many students or the start of their summer holiday. However the smaller group was much more effective in this new position, as it allowed us to cover all entrances to the org.

Sidewalk chalk was used extensively after permission was given by the police. Anons wrote website URLs and other informative messages. The entire sidewalk was covered by the end of the day, leaving an extensive cleanup for the Sea Org. The weather was perfect, epic flags, music, and delicious caek and pizza kept spirits high.

Anons began to disperse around 3pm in accordance with the notice of demonstration, leaving only the massive chalk mural.

Despite the smaller turnout it was a major victory, which will set the stage for future epic days.

The "Official" poster for Operation Reconnect. Full resolution PDF [available here]

For Operation Reconnect we secured a permit for the protest, this allowed the protest to go on but with much less police. It began about 11AM and at first it looked like a possible fail. There were only a few dozen people there with signs that were already getting wet. Around 40 minutes later we started receiving /b/lackup and the news reporters started arriving. By 12:30 we reached 150 people who didn't mind getting buffeted by the wind and rain. This is when the Angry Window Guy started yelling at us to be quiet. After him failing to achieve any success he went back inside his home and tried to ignore us.

At 1PM the Sysco truck once again made an appearance, a chant for "Potatoes" soon followed. When the truck left we could finally see the boarded up windows and abandoned lobby of the org again. The protest continued strong until 3PM when it officially ended. Everyone left and went home and pat themselves on the back for a job well done.

At this protest we got more public attention then any other protest. A lot of fliers were given out, and we received numerous honks.

11:00 AM, ~70 Anons march from Dundas Square 1.5km north to Co$ under heavy police escort. Epic music and awesome flags contributed to win.

11:15 Dundas Brigade joins Anons at Co$ for a combined force of 200+. Heavy Police presence, approximately 30+ officers as compared with the dozen or so on Feb 10, Crowd Control horses as well. Protesters were restricted to the opposite side of the street, and a lane of traffic was blocked off to provide a buffer zone. Scienos put paper over their windows and hid inside, using windows on upper floors of buildings to tape us.

1:25 PM- A Sysco truck parks in front of the building to deliver a mysterious shipment. The truck leaves about 20 minutes later. We thought the boxes contained documents but we kept our distance due to police. Photographs and phonecalls later revealed the delivery to be a shippment of over 4000 eggs, as well as several boxes of oranges. I guess they buy their eggs annually?

Raid went strong through to 5pm, estimated attendance at ~300 peak. Unfortunately, there was no cake, just some donuts. No violence, no problems with police except that they refused to dance to "YMCA" with us.

Extra win: Wikipedia's Featured Article of March 15, 2008 was about South Park's episode satirizing Scientology!

Deluxe extra win: Wise Hat Man says CoS Toronto only has ~250 members, so we outnumbered them!

March 15th Wrap-Up

Martini Drinker: You forgot your flag afterwards. It is being held by someone who lives in a pineapple under the sea. They will bring it to the next protest if you can't get a hold of them beforehand to get a hold of it. You should be able to contact them via Enturbulation, IRC, or through the tubes.

Read the Global Anonymous Speech said at the protest.

Unmentioned Trolls: 420Chan Troll harassing people exiting the picket via the subway. Merely yelled profanities, nothing really intelligable and was probably jealous because no one lurks on his site. Baaaaaaaaawww!

July 19th, 2008

Saturday afternoon raid at the org. Eight Anons were present.

CFI Ontario held a Skeptic's Forum on Scientology. There were a couple of Anons present. A Scientologist (OT IV) was also there, posing as an ordinary citizen, and tried to take over the discussion - probably didn't sound very skeptical though.

Avery1's photobucket: http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm35/Avery1now/July%2015%20MiniRaid/

Flyering commenced around 2:30pm. We went through about 400 flyers by 5:00. They had the stress test table set up, but as we are on best behaviour, no one went over in front of the org. We just handed out flyers, held our awesome signs, and chatted with folks. The course room was wide open when we got there; blinds up and door propped open. Spacko ran over to where he could be in view of the course room from the opposite side of St.Mary, and boy did they hustle to get those blinds and door shut. Eventually they got annoyed at seeing us from across the way so they brought in their stress test tables as well.

BASEMENT!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 farewell gentlemen~

Also: There were 12 of us there, and we handed out tons of fliers with tons and tons of support from the public. Eventually Spacko and Axiom went across the street so the stress test table could see their signs and they got this interview with a random pedestrian: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=X7ijS8ITmxc http://forums.enturbulation.org/15-media/completely-random-pedestrian-refused-answers-toronto-miniraid-22492/

Later Spacko ended up having a great conversation with an overly enthusiastic libertarian for about 30 minutes about Scientology (and Ron Paul). No police interaction or presence but several scilons gave us the angry 'death stare' where they hilariously tried to use their OT powers. We then watched Romeo & Juliet (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio) at Dundas Square which was awesome. LIBERTY! FREEDOM! RON PAUL!

July 10th, 2008

Not much to report - standard mini-raid. 4-6 in attendance, flyering & talking to people. No attempt was made to flyer in front of the org. No police interaction.

July 8th, 2008 - Enturbulation Tuesday VII

Somewhat uneventful, however successful mini raid, partial police presence, genuine interest from several members of the community, overall successful.

July 1st, 2008 Canada Day

There was some scilon violence towards spacko not long after he showed up (details pending), police were called and we aren't allowed on the side of the street that the org is anymore. Quite a few interesting people showed up including one kid who told us he was tripping, then proceeded to empty the contents of his stomach onto the sidewalk. A guy who told us that if we were hallucinating it's best to see a nutritionist or else the great spirit will get you, a gentleman who made a great point in saying that "Every time I come down here Scientology does Stupid!". A few people went into the org but the anons did a good job of talking to them about the other side of Scientology after they came out. Unfortunately one person who didn't talk to anon signed his life away, despite spacko's dancing and jumping around outside the window with signs.

As of July 1, 2008. We are no longer allowed to flyer on the west side of Yonge Street (ie. on the same side of the street as the Org). on the sidewalk directly in front of the Org. This is a direct order from Toronto Police. See this thread for details.

Media Reports:

June 28th, 2008

Major win - after printing off the gay pride flyers, Para and Spacko decided to go to the Org at around 11pm - only to discover that $cientology was STILL giving out stress tests! We shut them down again and that really old scilon tried the 'you cant stand here its private property' thing when I kindly explained to him that its a public sidewalk. A lot of LGBT pedestrians were thanking us and that a lot of people already knew about their crimes. Also while standing outside the Org this old female scilon TRIED to walk into Spacko's arm as he was handing out a flyer. Spacko didn't see her walk outside the door behind him and handed a flyer to a pedestrian while she purposely tried to walk into his arm. Everyone needs to be aware they are trying this kind of stuff now and will do anything. Afterwards we continued to flyer all of Church Street and got a ton of positive responses.

June 27th, 2008

This one very exciting and fun, although there was very little anti-Anon operations. A reporter showed up and took some photos, they were pretty sympathetic to our cause and are now on our side. The scilons eventually called the v& but Wolfman and Thoughtcrime handled the situation really well. There was a HUGE turnout with probably at least 30 Anons at once. They tried to stay open with the blinds half shut but after a lot of pedestrians went inside to ask them about our flyers they eventually they had to close down with the blinds all the way and locked the door. We also had chalk covering all entrances of the building. Afterwards we retired to the bar across the street for some post-raid fun and then after it closed, went and chalked again (after they had washed it off with a hose).

June 26th, 2008

OSA goons were out early spreading anti-anon propaganda to pedestrians. Anonymous responded quickly and sent three Anons to every one goon. They quickly retreated back to there org and during the downtime, we talked to many passersby and Thepatriot505 bought some delicious cake to boost moral. later, the affectionately dubbed terrible twosome left the org to harass local stores with their anti-anon propaganda. But again, Anonymous countered the counter protest with a squad of about 6. During the counter counter protest, many Anons such as Spacko, Thepatiot505, and Alpha were assaulted but no one was v&. Generally a pretty win protest.

June 20th, 2008 — 25th Raidaversary

Anonymous Toronto was out in force today, with about a dozen members at any given time in front of the org and across the street. There were quite a few non-regulars as well. Sidewalk chalk happened. Many passersby gave us support and some talked to us at length. Ex-Sea Org guy made an appearance. Lots passing cars honked for our signs. Anons later retired to a bar for post-raid drinks.

June 18th, 2008 – Farewell to Boos

Good times, out in the rain again. Seven anons showed up and handed out flyers from 3pm-7pm. Lots of great comments from passersby.

The org did not close up this time. There were a lot of staff members around, and they weren't doing much other than smoking, going for coffee, and pretending to be up-tone.

We went through about 500 flyers, discussed Golden Girls trivia, and had a farewell party for boos you should be very sorry you missed.

April 29th, 2008 – Enturbulation Tuesday I

Another epic win for Anonymous. 10-15 anons handed out flyers and got the Scienopaths to pack up the Free Stress Test and go inside after not having a single taker once Anonymous arrived. The Scientologists however were more aggressive this time, swearing, accusing us of being virgins, and having been dropped on our heads as babies. Also, apparently we were being paid to be there and that is a fact (at least according to Mike the auditor). Also, Trianguls was bumped, causing him to drop his flyers.

April 27th, 2008

This was a completely spontaneous raid, organised in a matter of an hour after we received word that TTC service had been restored. We handed out about 500 flyers between 6:30 and 10:30pm. Seven anons gathered around the CoS on an hours notice and took them so off guard that they didn't send out their PIs and spais but they instead closed up shop and retreated after calling the police and wasting even more police time. The public was extremely receptive and approximately 500 flyers were distributed in less than 4 hours. The flash raid was WIN!

April 19th and 20th, 2008 – Operation Book-A-Thon

Verdict: Win!

Scienos all over the world were ordered to hit the streets that weekend selling Dianetics. Anonymous was there to counter their efforts with our presence, our flyers, and the real truth about the cult of Scientology. Over the entire weekend we saw them give out 18 stress tests to laughing people and sell a grand total of 2 books. On the first day we fought them tooth and nail, down to the very last flyer. By the next day we had shut their operation down, they didn't even bring out the tables. This is how you deal with scienos.

A small contingent of <20 anons managed to get hundreds of cheers and honks, they talked with concerned citizens and convinced dozens of people to avoid the criminal cult.

This event kicked off our Summer of Lulz Campaign.

February 2nd, 2008

Mass flyer canvasing took place on February 2nd, 4:00PM, at Dundas Square.

6 Anons attended, and over 9000 flyers were distributed.

Approximately 20 young Anon were recruited.

Minimal trolling from pedestrians. Scientologist observed taping us. There was also another scientologist standing at the corner of Queen St. and Yonge St. wearing urban camouflage pants. He stood there for more than an hour and did not appear to be waiting for anyone. 3 Anons observed this man standing around at 2 different times.

Verdict: Successful.

January 26th, 2008

On January 26 at 1:30pm a second raid was attempted. Anon handed out flyers to pedestrians. Level 2 operating anonymous can view footage taken MOAR footage

About MOAR footage...less filming of anon. more filming of Scienos.

Setup There was difficulty organizing anonymous since we did not meet at the planned location. ~10 Police Officers and two ETF (Emergency Task Force) Tactical Response vans arrived at 1:45pm. At 2:05pm after a camera person went around trying to signal to each stray anonymous they collected in front of a shoppers drug mart and at 2:10 the raid was commenced.

No media attended. Bicycle police and tactical vans showed up. Estimates put it at ~10 officers, 3 officers were also seen inside patrolling.

It is believed the Scientologists called in a bomb threat against themselves to get that many cops to arrive.

Protest There were ~30 anonymous that attended. Cops were mostly disinterested and seemed to laugh the whole situation off but did not let us put up the longcat banner. An exception to that is a police officer who acted strangely like a Scientologist asking for a card as seen in the video. He also used veiled threats against our members, stating that if the banner was used "the next thing you know, someone's going to get arrested." One of our members asked how the banner would be offensive, and the cop would not answer, and went on to accuse the Anon of arguing with him. The officer is believed to be a scicop. We do not have that officer's badge number and anonymous has decided it's not worth pursuing.

We do not know the extent of the CoS's influence in the Metro Police. However, the police on Saturday were greater in number and showed a bias against protesters not seen during the Friday raid. To observe scicop behavior, see here.

A few anonymous did not have disguises. Public reception was excellent, with the exception of CoS members who darted away once they saw the flyer (as seen in video). Many people stopped to talk with people handing out fliers and ask further questions. Scientologists harassed some anonymous by accepting flyers and ripping them. After 1 hour this stopped as all scientologists were identified and the police took notice. The whole event Lasted from ~2pm to ~6pm.

Some police officers also questioned why anon was doing this. They were given fliers and the impression on them appeared to be good. Tips: one person speaking at a time and only one message.

Conclusion When Anonymous left, precautions were taken to avoid stalkers such as using the subway system and changing train cars between stations. There are reports that 4 individuals were followed. One was followed as far south as Dundas before disappearing into the Eaton Centre. Other precautions were traveling as a group and then splitting apart at various light stops.

(WTF. Whoever was followed and shows up for the next /r/aids must point out who the fuck followed them. This is unacceptable. We need more cameras for the next /r/aids.)

This raid has been classified as: moderate win.
