The next international Anonymous protest will be held on May 10, 2008. As the name implies, the focus of the demostration will be the Church of Scientology's notorious "Fair Game" policy - a policy that was enacted by Co$ founder L. Ron Hubbard in 1965 which states how to deal with people who interfere with Scientology's activities. These problematic people, called suppressive persons (SP), could be considered "fair game" for retaliation:

A Suppressive Person or Group becomes fair game. By FAIR GAME is meant, may not be further protected by the codes and disciplines or the rights of a Scientologist. (Hubbard, HCOPL 1 Mar 65 "Suppressive Acts - Suppression of Scientology and Scientologists - The Fair Game Law")
The homes, property, places and abodes of persons who have been active in attempting to: suppress Scientology or Scientologists are all beyond any protection of Scientology Ethics, unless absolved by later Ethics or an amnesty ... this Policy Letter extends to suppressive non-Scientology wives and husbands and parents, or other family members or hostile groups or even close friends.HCOPL 23 December 1965, ("Suppressive Acts - Suppression of Scientology and Scientologists - The Fair Game Law")
ENEMY — SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed. (HCOPL 18 October 67 Issue IV, Penalties for Lower Conditions)

Scientologists have applied this policy to justify their harrassing, stalking, and suing critics as well as former "church" members who have left the cult. Famous victims include: journalists Paulette Cooper and John Sweeney of the BBC. The Church of Scientology claims that this policy has been "cancelled", but such attacks on critics and Anonymous members continue. The Church of Scientology aims to stifle free speech and is against freedom of expression: it must therefore be stopped.

Pre-Protest Activities

Things to do

  • An OPERATION: Fair Game Stop flyer needs to be designed
    • A poster is availale here.
  • Flyers need to be distributed and Anons recruited.
  • A press release needs to be written. Post your draft here.
  • Get the permit - TorontoSP? - done!

Handing out flyers and information

Set up groups of ~5 anons at Bloor/Yonge, Queen/Yonge Eaton Centre doors, Church/Wellesley, and or other high-traffic places (forget Bay street). The goal is to promote the May 10th protest and to make them aware about Scientology. Talking to Anonymous will make people remember. Other possible areas of recruitment include U of T, Ryerson, York U, and Seneca College

Putting up posters in public areas

Please put up the OPERATION: Fair Game Stop posters in as many places as possible. The flyer and poster campaign to spread knowledge to the general public is now know as Operation Information


Write to Your MP

Write to your MP and let them know about the CoS' crimes and abuses, as well as their criminally convicted status. Question why they are still entitled to certain tax breaks (including the property tax of 696 Yonge Street) and are a Non-Profit Organization, even though they clearly are not!

This is especially important if you live in Scarborough-Rouge River as your MP is Derek Lee, a known CoS supporter.

Signs

  • Double sided signs can reach drivers on the road and people on the sidewalk at the same time.
  • Signs with bigger and thicker lettering can be read easier and from farther away. Use markers, not pens.
  • Keep the message short and simple.
  • Signs on poles are more visible.
  • Sandwich boards leave your hands free to hold fliers/etc.
